Lewisville ISD Names Smith-Bothun as Principal of Lakeview Middle School

Lewisville ISD announced today the appointment of Taylor Smith-Bothun as the new principal of Lakeview Middle School. Smith-Bothun currently serves as associate principal at Coppell High School and brings a wide range of instructional, cultural, and operational leadership experience from multiple districts.

A bilingual educator, Smith-Bothun is recognized for creating collaborative school cultures, strengthening instructional alignment, and supporting teachers through coaching and data-informed practices. His work in Coppell ISD included leading PLC and MTSS structures, championing programs that promote belonging and engagement, and overseeing campus operations, instruction, and student support systems.

“I am honored and grateful to join the Lakeview community,” Smith-Bothun said. “Lakeview has a strong tradition of supporting the whole student. I look forward to partnering with staff, students, and families to continue that great work and to create a school environment where each learner can thrive.”

Before his current role, Smith-Bothun served as assistant principal at Coppell Middle School West and as summer school principal for Coppell ISD. His career also includes work as an instructional technology coach in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and as a Spanish teacher and summer school coordinator for Eden Prairie Schools in Minnesota.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Smith-Bothun as principal of Lakeview Middle School,” said LISD Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp. “His leadership experience across multiple levels, commitment to excellence, and passion for student success make him a great fit for the Lakeview community.”

Smith-Bothun holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University, a Bachelor of Arts in K-12 Spanish Education, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance from Bethel University. He also earned his EC–12 Principal Certification through UNT Dallas.
